Portfolio
Our clients have given us the opportunity to express ourselves
artistically as well as technically, and we are forever grateful to them
for the privilege.
Over the years we have evolved from table-based construction
to the now favored — and ever more flexible — use of cascading
style sheets to style pages. Our portfolio contains websites representing
the old as well as the new methods. You may not be able to tell the difference,
but we can — and our clients are now able to reap the benefits of this
change in formatting methods, for many reasons, chief of which may be the
following:
- Changes to formatting are amazingly simplified, since the code that governs
all the format styles for the entire site is in one document. This means,
for example, that a font can be changed throughout the site in 2 minutes
or less, as compared with hours using previous methods. This results in
considerable cost savings for our clients.
- Sites can be made accessible to the increasing array of media used to access
the web, including hand-held devices and cell phones; and to vision-impaired
users, among others.
- Pages load more quickly, since the coding that governs style is in one separate document and thus not taking up valuable bandwidth.
- Search engines are able to find and index important information more easily with all the formatting code no longer present.
Another change we have implemented recently is in response to our clients'
requests to modify their own sites. We currently employ Macromedia Contribute
to enable our clients to keep their sites current. More information on our site
maintenance options can be found on our Services page.
